First, you will need a few tools: Disinfecting spray, rubbing alcohol or bleach, and water. The most germ-filled areas are the high traffic surfaces such as doorknobs, appliance handles, faucet levers, etc. Bacteria and viruses can live on these surfaces for up to 48 hours. Maintain these surfaces as often as possible ensuring they are free of visible dirt or grease.
Use a disinfecting spray that is EPA registered. Soak the area very well, if it dries too quickly, soak the area again as germs are killed during the evaporation process. For this reason, always allow the surfaces to air-dry.
For items that cannot get wet, such as phones, remote controls, and light switches; soak a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol and squeeze excess liquid out before applying onto a phone or remote control. If you have bleach available, you can use a bleach and water mixture to soak whenever rubbing alcohol is not available.
